Do: Highlight Your Youth
When Michael Jordan officially left the game as a player, he gave a speech at the 2003 All Star Game where he said he felt comfortable leaving the game in the good hands of the still youthful Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant & Co. because they could carry the torch. Surely nothing made Stern prouder this weekend that seeing young stars like Blake Griffin go off for 38 points, Kevin Durant take reestablish his dominance and Kyrie Irving win MVP in Sunday’s game.
As much as we all clamor over LeBron doing the dunk contest, commissioner Stern often seeks out younger players to participate in it, to push the league’s interest forward. Lebron is king for a reason and will always be sought after by media. The NBA is great at making sure everyone, especially the newer players, get some shine.
