The Injury Bug
Besides teams getting bounced, the looming specter of Derrick Rose continues to haunt this season. It's been a bad year for superstar point guards, with Rajon Rondo going down months ago and Russell Westbrook going down in the first round. Both may have doomed their team's respective seasons, with Russ' knee depriving fans of a Thunder-Heat rematch. It remains to be seen if Kevin Durant can hit another gear and carry OKC to seven more wins, but it will be a tall task no matter what.
Rose's situation is much more compelling and confusing. The guy is medically cleared to play and refuses to suit up, leading to a lot of columns questioning his "toughness" and a bunch of meme pics shared by your weirder Facebook friends. My opinion is simple: It's his body, his right to choose. Why risk further injury against a Heat team that would probably beat the 1992 Dream Team, the 1996 Bulls, and the Monstars from "Space Jam" in a row? It seems short-sighted, and it's a function of this incredibly drawn-out schedule that leaves time for a bunch of hand-wringing.
