Predictions & Snubs: Explore the Dance Grammy Nominees
EDM blew up last year's Grammys, giving awards to Skrillex and featuring David Guetta on the broadcast. This year, the trend continues with some familiar faces among the nominees. LIke everyone else, we're making predictions, crying "Snub!" and in a couple cases, even suggesting new categories.
BEST DANCE RECORDING
Let’s Go – Calvin Harris featuring Ne-Yo
Good collaboration, but not as momentous as his Pop crossover with Rihanna.

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
Promises - Nero (Skrillex & Nero Remix) - Joseph Ray, Skrillex & Daniel Stephens, remixers
Nero have been on fire for the last few years and could get a boost from Skrillex. This might be the perfect chance for the Grammys to award Skrillex again without looking like they're repeating themselves.

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
Lie Down In Darkness - Moby (Photek Remix)
Photek, remixer
Moby is a Grammy favorite, and Photek has veteran cred to spare. Although both had a great year in 2012, the Grammy will likely go to newer talent.

BEST DANCE RECORDING
Bangarang – Skrillex featuring Sirah
He won last year, so the Grammys will probably want to be choose someone more topical.

BEST DANCE RECORDING
Don’t You Worry Child – Swedish House Mafia featuring John Martin
Breaking up on a high note after selling out Madison Square Garden, SMH has momentum on their side.

BEST DANCE/ELECTRONICA ALBUM
Don’t Think – The Chemical Brothers
The Chemical Brothers might get a few old school votes, especially since they were featured on the soundtrack to the movie Black Swan, but the Grammy will likely go to a younger head.

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
In My Mind - Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl Featuring Georgi Kay (Axwell Remix)
Axel Hedfors, remixer
Swedish House Mafia dominated EDM, but they're more likely to win as a group rather than individuals.

BEST DANCE/ELECTRONICA ALBUM
Fire & Ice – Kaskade
Kaskade has had a breakout year, but he's not as popular as Deadmau5.

BEST DANCE RECORDING
Levels – Avicii
Check back next year. 2012 was a breakthrough year for Avicii, but it's unlikely the Grammys will take a chance on him this time around.

BEST DANCE/ELECTRONICA ALBUM
>Album Title Goes Here< – Deadmau5
deadmau5 has established himself as a key player on the scene, appearing at last year's ceremonies. He might still be seductive enough to win this.
Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
The Veldt - Deadmau5 Featuring Chris James (Tommy Trash Remix)
Deadmau5 performed at last year's ceremonies, so their love for him is well established. If the academy were feeling adventurous, this would be a good choice, since Tommy Trash is relatively new compared to everyone on this list.
Thomas Olsen, remixer

BEST DANCE RECORDING
I Can’t Live Without You – Al Walser - If they have any sense, the Grammys wouldn't touch this with a People's Choice Award, considering the EDM community's collective freak out over this left field, highly suspect nomination.

BEST DANCE/ELECTRONICA ALBUM
Wonderland – Steve Aoki
With its pop and hip hop crossover appeal, this might be an accessible choice that feels daring.

PRODUCER OF THE YEAR, NON-CLASSICAL
Diplo would be an adventurous choice, he has contributed significantly to the scene, working with everyone from Justin Bieber to Snoop Lion, Santigold, Major Lazer, No Doubt, Marina and the Diamonds. He'd have a better chance in an EDM category. The Grammy will likely go to rock producer like Markus Dravs (Coldplay, Mumford & Sons) or Salaam Remi, who has a mighty pop resume (Nas, Usher, Alicia Keys, Miguel, Amy Winehouse).

Snub: Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media
EDM's music conquest is not limited to radio. Daft Punk (Tron: Legacy) and the Chemical Brothers (Hanna) have scored movies, and Skrillex recently scored Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers movie. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who won an Oscar for The Social Network, are nominated this year for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. But Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for The Dark Knight Rises benefitted from a massive social media campaign, and has the most momentum. Although we didn't have many EDM scores for movies this year, we do think Orbital's work on the remake of The Pusher deserves at least a nod.
