The Producers You Need to Know From A$AP Rocky’s LongLiveA$AP

Sowmya Krishnamurthy Posted January 21, 2013
If you’re like us, you’ve had A$AP Rocky’s debut album LongLiveA$AP on repeat all week. The album—expected to push over 150,000 units in its first week—has everyone in hip-hop talking.

Here are some of the producers who contributed to the project that we expect to hear lots more from.

Clams Casino

Clams Casino got into the music game after hitting Lil B on MySpace and sending him beats but it was his work on A$AP’s LiveLoveA$AP mixtape and The Weeknd’s haunting ‘The Fall” which really got people buzzing. The 24-year-old New Jersey native has also released instrumental mixtapes showcasing his signature ambient, spacey sounds.

A$AP Ty Beats

Like his name states, A$AP Ty Beats has been down with Rocky and the A$AP Mob since jump. Rocky’s early hits like “Peso” and “Purple Swag” are attributed to the teenage producer. “We got Ty Beats, the illest producer in the streets/You know he come through with that motherfucking heat,” raps Rocky in “A$AP Worldwide.” That’s swag.

"C. Papi"

Everyone knows that Noah “40” Shebib helmed the scorcher “Fuckin’ Problems,” but who was the mysterious C. Papi who co-produced with him? C. Papi is none other than rapper Drake’s producer alter ego (The name is a shout-out to Drizzy’s “Champagne Papi” Instagram handle). This isn’t the first time the rap sensation has gone behind the boards. He has co-production credits on tracks like “Practice,” “The Real Her” and “Cameras.”

"Lord Flacko"

Speaking of producer alter egos, A$AP Rocky produced on his album too as “Lord Flacko” on four tracks (“LongLiveA$AP,” “Wild for the Night,” “Fashion Killa” and “Suddenly”). Not mad at his hustle.

Soufien3000

Soufien3000 is so new that we could barely find any info about him! The mysterious French artist calls himself “a simple spaced-out producer” that has previously remixed Danny Brown and Evil Nine.
