2. Girl group women stick together. You can tell that Claudette Ortiz and Dawn Robinson are on the road to a real friendship. It makes sense given they have a few things in common. They were in groups that earned crossover hits, but currently would have to cross the street if they spotted their band mates on the street. Plus that whole “Why aren’t I the breakout solo superstar like Beyoncé?” issue each has to contend with. I can dig it.
Meanwhile, I’d like to point out that this is the first episode in which I didn’t look at Claudette speaking and say to myself, “That poor, poor woman. Bless her heart.” I can’t say the same for Dawn, though. In fact, from this day forward, I’ll be referring to her as “Delicate Dawn.” She speaks so softly and seems as thick-skinned as the Cowardly Lion. At the same time, towards the end of the episode, we got glimpses of her snippiness. No wonder Terry and Cindy don’t fool with you, ma’am.
