"Every second that I'm with you is a special world/Like I'm your only man and you’re my only girl" —Robin Thicke
Thicke never said that this was just a “feel good” album. Some darkness hangs out just beneath the surface. In a party, nobody knows your past or situation. If you have a boyfriend, wife, or child, nothing stops you from simply pretending that they have never existed. Thicke may play along, but it does not make the reality any easier. The same girl he just fell in love with on the dance floor is not his only girl, nor is he her only man—they have real-life significant others. It all falls apart in the morning, to repeat the next day.
