4. Claudette Ortiz Hates Her Ex-Husband‘Twas difficult watching Claudette Ortiz eat salad while trying to hold in her beef with ex-husband and former City High band mate, Ryan Toby. There’s so much justified sadness and resentment pouring out of her on screen, you can’t help but want to put on a dashiki, grab some sage, and try to pretend to be a healer a la Iyanla Vanzant with the hopes of helping Claudette.
We found out during their lunch that at one point, Ryan was sending her music to record. Well, sort of. There was one song in particular that Ryan sent to Claudette to sing, only he would shortly thereafter say that she shouldn’t bother now that Cee-Lo’s artist wanted the track. At which point, Claudette said, “Well, damn, he doesn’t even believe in me anymore.”
As a result, Claudette was noticeably blasé about his offer to record again. The same goes for Ryan saying he still loves her after she made clear that she’s no longer in love with him. Her response to Ryan’s post-divorce declaration of love: “Thanks, I appreciate that.” There’s a good En Vogue song that goes with that kind of response. It’s called “Give It Up, Turn It Loose.” Ryan, maybe you should ask Dawn to hum a little bit of it for you.
