5. Two Directors Equal Twice The Burden
Lil’ Mo is used to rehearsal time actually being spent rehearsing something. So she turned to her husband/manager and reached out to Fred with the idea of bringing him on as a music director to help smooth things out and save the production. That and she didn’t understand why Fred left when Kelly Price asked him to. Unfortunately, that plan went awry quickly.
Since Kelly Price is evidently used to only doing things that Kelly Price approves of, Kelly Price brought in Torrey – the dude who did that high school production of Dreamgirls that Kelly Price couldn’t even be bothered to attend herself – to produce-direct the play with Fred, but not really. Torrey’s ideas were a Tyler Perry, chitlin circuit cliché-riddled mess, and at this point, I’d invite both Kelly and Torrey to follow the yellow brick road to oblivion so Chanté and Lil’ Mo can get this show going already.
