Today marks the 13-year anniversary of the day Harlem and the rap game lost a legend.

Big L’s career was cut short due to senseless violence. In February of 1999, at the tender age of 24, he was gunned down shortly after leaving his Harlem residence. More than a decade later, he still impacts new rappers. Just ask Mac Miller.

Although, Lamont “Big L” Coleman never got the chance to reach his peak, the music he made will always be timeless. In remembrance of the late MC, and his contributions to hip-hop, take a look back at some of our favorite Big L songs below. — Talim Adderly
