By 2006, Timbaland had gone from looking for a female muse to finding a male musical counterpart in the form of ex-boy band star Justin Timberlake. The pair had previously collaborated on the Britney Spears jab Cry Me A River for JT’s debut album Justified, but it wasn’t until his highly successful follow-up FutureSex/LoveSounds that we really got to see the genius these two guys could cook up in the studio. On this slow but funky ballad, Justin and Beyoncé Knowles vocally sync together. However, picture in your mind Aaliyah being on this track in the studio with JT and Timbaland instead of Bey. What you would have is musical magic that studio-wise makes more sense.
