2. “Wildfire Interlude”
“Only a nascent trying to harness huge fire/Out on the beach in the darkness starting bonfire” —Frank Ocean
The person that decided to combine John Mayer and Frank Ocean on the same track deserves an award. Despite Mayer only singing harmonies for Frank’s words, the interlude fits the album perfectly. Frank’s discussion on the brightness of love within the darkness of the soul is close to home for all and sits as pure poetry. The young and inexperienced attempt to seek passion and a raging love, but both parties end up combusting and losing control. Even while engulfed in the flames, the feeling of loneliness never goes away. In the end, love and life are wild, able only to be sometimes shared and felt, not controlled.
