6. “Waiting on the Day”
“Can you love me all the way/Will you tie me tight in little strands of paradise”
Imagery is everything here: Who can deny the bliss brought on when imagining the “strands of paradise” that metaphorically wrap around you each time you think about something good? From a perfect kiss to the first touch, the shiver covers your body, a mix of nervous tension breaking and pleasure taking over. The “strands” feel like a net, keeping all safe and alive. Still, the word choice is clear: “little.” Soon, the feeling will pass, and John will again wait for a day when it can again feel right. For most of his life, though, he must only wander and feel nothing.
