Say It With Your Chest: The 5 Kevin Hart TV Shows We'd Like To See

Kevin L. Clark (@DLYDJ) Posted August 28, 2012
Public Enemy may have had it right when they said, "If I come out alive and then they won't come clean," as Hollywood has to give Kevin Hart his just due. The rebel without a pause has used his force of funny to one up the game and for that we salute the North Philly resident for keepin' it pimpin'. Netflix lovers and true fans know that Hart has done an MVP job with his stand-up comedy.

Now, everyone gets to see what we all have been enjoying since Paper Soldiers, as Kevin Hart will be this year's host of the MTV Video Music Awards. It's one of the few times haters, lovers, #creativists and monsters can get together to be entertained. Hart's reputation is becoming solidified as one of the go-to-players for that new ish. It's not too late for those who have enjoyed watching him break up with Taylor Swift to watch his comedy special Laugh At My Pain or enter to win Think Like A Man DVD.

With all these glowing exceptions of Black excellence, we here at VIBE Pop Culture batted around a few ideas on 5 Kevin Hart TV Shows We'd Like To See. It may not be Real Husbands of Hollywood, but you execs better come with your A-game when you see this MVP on your big screen.
Just The Three Of Us —

Kevin Hart stars as Dexter Clark, a single-father with a purpose but no plan. His wife left him and his two sons for a better life across town. Hilariously upbeat, Dexter, his cousin Ant (played by Yasiin Bey in a reoccurring role), and his two sons would fight, work and keep households laughing in this imaginative sitcom produced by Bishop T.D. Jakes and his TDJ Enterprises production company.

Hart's portrayal would allow audiences to see the funnyman get his Fred MacMurray on for the new generation.
Da Brick —

HBO passed on this promising project which originally starred John Boyega, but what is their lost would be BET's gain. After ordering 10 episodes of North Philly's own Real Husbands of Hollywood, Hart could play the role of young Mike Tyson in a dramatic turn for both the funnyman and the entertainment network. Akim Black and Sakinah Bingham would co-star in this six episodic mini-series which would find us exploring the mind of the Baddest Man on the Planet during his formative years.

Hart's portrayal as Tyson before the career change could see the comedian turn this joke-telling thing into something electric.
Buzzer Beater Barry —

In the 24-hour world of sports entertainment, there can only be one who takes home the W. Comedy Central would be adding another crown jewel to the comedy dynasty with this exclusive show. Hart plays Buzzer Beater Barry (3B for short) a local sports hero with dreams of gunning for that #1 spot. Naomie Harris would co-star as his wife as together they train to enter NBA tryouts. With a musical score provided by Flying Lotus and special guest appearance from the game's elite, this show would satisfy those looking to fill the void between Key and Peele episodes and the NBA off-season.

The MVP of the 2012 NBA All-Star celebrity game could post-and-pivot his way in comedic folklore if done correctly.
Verse Vs. Verse —

Who in the World Wide Web hasn't heard of Chocolate Drop? The pint-size pontificator of prose has leveled his fair share of MC's on YouTube and the e-streets have quickly taken notice. It's only right that the networks do too! The show would feature Kevin Hart's brand of lyrical skill versus the rappers WE get to pick using social media. As an extra incentive that wouldn't be found anywhere on TV, whoever Hart picks as the Freestyle Friday Follower of the Week would win a free grand prize! Who watches those old Freestyle Friday's anymore, anyways?

Chocolate Drop would take on all screws because he's walnuts!
The Sip Of My Juice Late Night Hour —

In a bit from Kevin Hart's Laugh At My Pain special, he talks about how he wasn't doing sports like everyone else, he was into debates and swimming. The Prince of PDR could use that as his late night tag as the host of his own talk show. Sip Of My Juice would combine the excitement of Arsenio Hall with the back and forth banter of Bill Maher—and audiences would, of course, chime in via the Twitterverse.

Hart, who dished out plenty of advice on love in Steve Harvey's Think Like A Man, should have Taraji P. Henson as his first guest. We promise to tune in!
