Pay Them Only If The Sport Makes Money
Here's where Title IX, and swimming vs. football, and a whole host of other issues comes into play. Why are football and basketball players worth more than the crew team? Well, because they just are. Florida can sell a half-million home tickets in a season, and more with a bowl game, for their football team. They can't for the soccer team. So if your sport makes money, you can get a percentage of that money, flat across all sports. It's both equal AND fair. And yes, it will probably make more kids choose the money sports over the other ones, but that's already the case - if you're an athlete and want to be a pro and make millions of dollars, you probably aren't choosing wrestling over football.
