Dance music fans from across the globe often harbor the illusion that Detroit Techno reigns nightly. In reality, there is no solid electronic music scene there, say many artists from the struggling city. Sure, there are exports from Motor City that turn up parties all over the world, but Detroit itself isn't currently a vibrant community for dance music. Once a year (May 25-27), however, the Movement Electronic Music Festival - formerly known as DEMF - comes to town, bringing artists from all of the globe and perhaps most importantly, giving local acts an opportunity to showcase their talents.
“Detroit is the birthplace of techno, so it’s a cool festival to see some super underground and really cutting-edge performances,” Eric Prydz tells VIBE in it's April/May issue of Movement.
