TV's Hottest Anchors Break Down Their Off-Camera Style
Whether field reporting or red carpet grilling, TV pundits are rarely snapped in their off-camera garb. VIBE consulted a few small screen correspondents for their closet cues
MARIO LOPEZ, Extra Host
Staple Get-Up: I’m a pretty casual, conservative guy. I’ve never pierced my ears or gotten tattoos. I always wear my cross [necklace]. And if I don’t have to comb my hair, I wear my Everlast ball cap. My closet is mostly John Varvatos.
Faux Pas: My entire existence in the late ’80s, early ’90s, and it’s all documented on Saved By The Bell, with the high-waist Z Cavariccis and silky shirts.

Style Evolution: I was tall [growing up], and my mother sewed my clothes. I never bought off the rack. Over the years, suits were baggier than shorts. Now, suits fit my body and are more styled.
Faux Pas: I’m from Detroit so pink gators. It was draft night and I wore a pink suit, pink gators and burgundy tie at the after-party. I made sure no one would ever find those pictures of me.

Sartorial Regret: I had a chain in 2008 and went through security at the airport. I was in such a rush that I left the chain. I was so young and not responsible enough to be wearing a diamond chain around my neck.
Style Evolution: I just turned 30, so if a meeting turns into a lunch with Ryan Seacrest, I always dress my age. I want to show how somebody from the hip-hop world can rock suits.

Fashion Philosophy: My style is sort of rocker-casual. It’s not too edgy for air, but when I’m out on the field, I’m in cargo pants and Gap t-shirts. There are certain designers I love to wear, like Helmut Lang or Balenciaga, but I don’t like to flaunt labels.
Signature Piece: I have these lace-up All Saints boots that I live in. I’ve had mine for four years and they’ve kept up well.

Staple Get-Up: Outside the newsroom, you’ll find me schlepping around in jeans, sneakers and a cap. My mother is a great believer that I should always wear heels. I’m not. I wear a lot of Kate Spade, Tory Burch and Max Mara.
On-Air Blunder: When I worked at Sky Sports News in the U.K., my mother decided it’d be a really great idea to have a bunch of jackets in the most obscenely bright colors. It was horrific.
