26) Lauryn Hill “Lost Ones” (1998)
Album: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Ball Buster: “A groupie call, you fall from temptation/Now you wanna bawl over separation/Tarnish my image in your conversation/Who you gon' scrimmage, like you the champion/You might win some but you just lost one”
All we can say is poor Wyclef. But more important, poor Lauryn. When this boom-bap track hit the streets, no one knew it was directed at the formerly dreaded Fugees frontman. It wasn’t until years later that we discovered the “you just lose me” referred to their broken romance. Not many women can poetically slice their other half in half.
