Waka Flocka Electrified: 5 EDM Spins

Waka Flocka Electrified: 5 EDM Spins

VIBE Posted January 24, 2013
Despite heavy criticisms folks shoot at Waka Flocka like pellet gun bullets, we can't help but throw our arms up (way up) in the air when the Flame ignites. It’s an inevitable trap music side effect that’s pleasing yet so unforgivable all at the same time. Waka Flocka isn’t wasting any time with his third LP on the way, “Flockaveli Part 2,” a mixtape, “DuFlockaRant Part 2,” about to drop, and an already-completed album due out this summer,

It’s no surprise that trap music has become chameleon to EDM. Waka Flocka, you’ve been electrified.

Rooster in my Rari (TNGHT remix)
When Waka dropped this track he reminded us why he was the self-professed, "worst rapper in the game.” Waka has no intention to feed us proper lyrical content but you can’t knock his hustle. TNGHT took this track and dropped some heavily synthesized beats. When you put TNGHT on any track there's no doubt it will be a sure fire hit - the Glaswegian producer, Hudson Mohawke, recently signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. music, and Canadian beat-kicking counterpart Lunis, know how to impose fast ticking beats, repetitive waka vocals and an anticipated dub drop.

No Hands (CRNKN remix)
CRNKN is a 20-year-old New Hampshire native who has become a staple in recharging rap to trap and beyond. Waka's hit “No Hands” brought the trap star into the limelight in 2010, but now CRNKN plays with Waka's vocals disguising it as part of another beat on the track. It bellows up and down in a high pitch assortment that fits the melody. In the end, he finds a way to chop up brain-rattling beats with a fast synth snare. Hip-hop dub, anyone?

Grove St. Party (HeRobust Remix)
Prepare to get knocked out by arguably Waka's best party hit to date, “It's a Grove Street Party.” HeRobust, born Hayden Kramer, is no stranger to synthesizing trap music, producing rap instrumentals and hip-hop classics. Despite the heavy synth, the ATL native demonstrates a capacity for producing the bouncier beats.

Hard In Da Paint (Crizzly Remix)
Just when you thought this jam couldn't pound any harder, Texas-based "crunkstep" producer-DJ, Crizzly kicks things up a bit by bringing in dirty south rap mixed with crunked up beats. They say everything is bigger in Texas - Crizzly proves it with this behemoth banger.

Murda (White Ring Remix)
Looks can be deceiving - the members of gothic/trance band White Ring may not appear to be monster bass music producers. Don't be fooled. They throw down a boss Waka Flocka Flame spin on their most recent remix of "Murda." The joint is trilled trance bass mixed with strategic samples. Listen before you look.
