You'd think that after darting across a stage for two hours and running through almost two albums, one would want to catch a breather and unplug for the night. Nope, not Childish Gambino. At about midnight, Donald Glover and a handful of friends, crew and Deep Web Tour attendees made their way over to The Cutting Room for a cozy impromptu showcase.
The room wasn't loaded with all the high energy, heavy bass and light beams from earlier at the Hammerstein Ballroom. In essence, it was more of a jazz session where Gambino could sing acoustic versions of Because The Internet songs from a bar stool, share a few unreleased ones and vibe off the crowd's energy.
During the night, he called some of his NY-based music friends to the stage. Ab-Soul, SZA, Joey Badass and Lion Babe mozied on and off stage freely to freestyle, drop some of their material to whatever beat the band provided and sing covers of popular songs together as if it was a round of karaoke. It was all good fun and positive vibes.
Check out some of the photos and videos from the night.
