Where's The Love? 5 Instances Of Rappers And Fans Fighting On Stage

Where's The Love? 5 Instances Of Rappers And Fans Fighting On Stage

William E. Ketchum III Posted December 20, 2012
Last weekend, video footage surfaced online of Odd Future beating down a 17-year-old audience member who approached them on stage during a concert in San Antonio, TX. Overzealous attendees—drunk off of booze, drugs, or the pandemonium of a concert environment—regularly rush the stage or throw objects at the performers, and are quickly escorted out of the venue by security. But the California rap collective is the latest in a list of several hip-hop acts who have chosen to eschew security and take matters of unruly fans into their own hands.

Read on to see footage.

Kid Cudi two-pieces fan off stage—2009

Kid Cudi is known for being “emo,” but that doesn’t mean that he’ll back down from a fight During a 2009 tour with Lady Gaga, a fan threw a wallet on stage and Cudi looked for the owner in the crowd before giving it back. When the wallet was thrown back at Cudi, the Cleveland singer/rapper leapt into the front row to land a few shots. After realizing he may have hit the wrong fan, he apologized.

The next year, another fan almost caught a similar case when he rushed on stage while Cudi performed “Pursuit of Happyness” in Ohio. Security pushed the culprit out of the way, but a bothered Cudi ventured into the stage to confront his assailant personally. Security broke them up and Cudi returned to the stage to finish performing.

Yelawolf fights guy on stage—2012

During a performance in Santa Ana, Calif., an audience member avoided security’s initial pushback and ran at Shady Records signee Yelawolf, tackling him to the ground. Security separated the two, but not before the Alabama-bred emcee’s lanky right arm guided a fist on the audience member’s face.

Pitbull punches fan on stage—2009

Pitbull is known as a pop sensation these days, but before he rebranded himself, he was known for exposing the street side of Miami that he came from. At a 2009 concert in Aspen, Co., his street side emerged when a fan that he helped onstage threw money in his face. Pitbull, wearing a two-piece suit, landed a hard right hook before security took the fan out of reach. “I told that motherfucker not to do the shit no more,” he insisted after he continued dancing and performing. “I’m a nice guy!”

Sean Price lands haymaker punch on fan—2011

Sean Price is the same emcee who told reporters that he had robbed fans after his shows, so it only makes sense that he’d respond aggressively to a presumed attacker. When a fan from the crowd ran from stage left during a Heltah Skeltah performance in Chile, Price landed a Balrog-style haymaker on his face. The fan stumbled and gave Price a confused look, motioning indignantly to the audience before members of Price’s crew pushed him back into the crowd. Price apologized and left stage.

Akon throws fan offstage—2007

When a fan allegedly threw items at Akon during a performance in Fishkill, NY, the masterful chorus writer showed inklings of the man who was locked up for several years. He helped the fan get on stage, lifted him over his head like WWE star Mark Henry, and launched him into the crowd. The projectile factor of this clip—it almost looks like a stunt scene from a movie—really makes it stand out among other footage. The teenager who was thrown emerged safely, but the woman he landed on, Abby Rosa, was reportedly diagnosed with a concussion.
