Wolfgang Gartner's HARD NYC at Terminal 5

The city of New York may have gone through some pretty intense events in the last week, which included a hurricane, a snowstorm and a presidential election. But the strong ones toughed it out to attend Wolfgang Gartner’s HARD NYC event at Terminal 5 last Friday, and it put fans to the test: either go HARD or go home. The concert started off with UK native James Connolly - better known by his stage name L-Vis 1990 - who eased attendees into the event with the unique sound that has got him noticed by such game changers as Drop The Lime and the Mad Decent Record Label.

Things then got a little raw, jumping from the UK straight to Soviet Russia, when Proxy took the stage afterwards and really cranked things up a bit. Playing songs from his recently released EP Music From the Eastblock Jungle Part 1, fans and listeners became engulfed within the music’s powerful energy – like being consumed by the flames of an explosion.

It was just what the doctor ordered to set up for the awesomeness that is Wolfgang Gartner – the final act for the night’s show. Gartner tossed down the progressive gauntlet, setting an entirely new vibe for the venue and its occupants. His heavy bass literally made the building vibrate with an energy that shook listeners to the core, giving fans a last taste of truly hard and heavy electronica. In the end, the event provided New Yorkers and fans alike a great escape after all the hardships and turmoil it has face. HARD NYC’s acts, filled with heavy basses and warped synths, had given the city the emotional – and literal – shakeup to show that it can survive anything, and we continue walk on to the steady bass and drums of life.
