New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul will be blessing Mardi Gras attendees with an exclusive sneaker during this year’s celebration. The special edition CP3 II takes cues from Mardi Gras colors and traditions and will be released exclusively to New Orleans retailers on February 21st. A full 3 weeks before the original version of the CP3 II hits nationally. As always Brand Jordan dug deep for a design concept. This time around the kicks were inspired by Futsal, a fast paced five-on-five indoor soccer game.
Unlike a lot of athlete signature shoes, Paul’s shoes bear a lot of personal aesthetics including the number 61 honors the memory of Paul’s grandfather, Nathanial Jones, a heel graphic features details of CP’s life such as his birthday, brother CJ’s initials and the name of Wake Forest coach, the late Skip Prosser and the outsole includes parents’ names and nods to Paul’s Christian faith
