In my years covering fashion for a music/lifestyle magazine, I've come across more fashion collections inspired by music than I can remember, each trumpeting its level of authenticity (to varying degrees of success).
Happy to report, then, that the new capsule collection from Tommy Hilfiger's Hilfiger Denim Spring 09 line is pitch perfect. Inspired by the iconic and influential mid-’70s/early-’80s music magazine of same name, the "Rock Scene" collection of jackets, T-shirts, and jeans, is imbued the with the unique spirit and effortless cool of Marky Ramone, the drummer of the legendary rock band The Ramones, who also inspired the designs.
My fave item? The men's leather jacket, which I'll pair with a Band of Outsiders shirt and tie to hit the office during the week then throw over my grey American Apparel tees, jeans and biker boots to party hard on my long (well-earned) weekends off. ($595; tommy.com)
