Market Editor Celia L. Smith on one of her new favorite things

With hair and make-up product flowing into the office daily, I've become a beauty guinea pig, experimenting and testing new product, all to suggest what's worth and not worth spending your hard earned dollars on. Now ladies, while I know steals like Queen Helene's Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream (which we've recently had an open office discussion about) will often do the trick, I encourage you to also venture out and make financial sacrifices for the look we know we can't always get for less. I recently tried to avoid this with a few recession friendly substitutes, and my hair boldly responded with frizz, and dullness, forcing me to remember WEN.

The Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner seems to be one of very few products my hair responds well to. I'm sure many of you have seen the late night infomercials and I can profess, it cleanses, leaves your hair super soft unlike most drying shampoos (which is a no-no for natural hair), all the while conditioning, detangling, and defining my curls, plus you can also use it as a leave-in treatment. Lesson learned: the more effective one product is, the less money you'll need to spend overall, simply because that one will do the trick of many. ($28 for 16 oz; chazdean.com)
