Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis forgives, but will we forgive Ray Lewis? In this case, Ray Lewis forgives Patriots WR Wes Welker, whose wife made disparaging remarks about the Ravens star after his team beat New England in the AFC Championship two weekends ago.
After the game, Welker's wife posted on her Facebook account a bit of a takedown of the retiring star:
”Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay! What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”
Well, she's not exactly wrong, but it was definitely not in the spirit of sportsmanship. But Ray Lewis forgives her, because he's just that close to God, apparently.
However, Lewis is in hot water again for some negative news. Sports Illustrated ran a huge piece today on S.W.A.T.S., a shady sports performance company that has been supplying NFL players with a banned substance made from deer antlers. Seriously. They claim to have given the stuff to Lewis, who recovered from an arm injury during the season to help lead Baltimore to the Super Bowl. What does this mean for the Ravens? If Ray Lewis forgives Wes Welker's wife, does that mean we have to forgive him in return?
