Tricky Stewart Bags New Def Jam Imprint

After producing summer anthems like Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," producer/songwriter Tricky Stewart has signed a deal with Def Jam Records to begin releasing music directly through his own label, RedZone Entertainment.

"It was my dream to juggle so much," Stewart told Vibe on Wednesday (September 9). "I really wanted a career with no limitations, and I wanted to creatively get off. Most people want to pigeonhole and put you in a box, and I kept fighting and [Def Jam] let me do it all."

RedZone was founded by Tricky and his brother Mark E. Stewart in 1995. The production company has been responsible for more than 20 million records sold by artists ranging from Mary J. Blige to Sting. Stewart, whose songwriting partner is R&B star The-Dream, was previously responsible for producing records and then shopping them to major labels. The new deal frees him up to see projects all the way through.

"It was a quick negotiation," he adds. "It wasn't really anything to negotiate- they were going to give me what I wanted. It took about two weeks."

RedZone's current focus is the 20-year-old singer Bryan J., whose heavy-bass, slow-droll dance song "Like I'm Obama" made rounds around the Internet in August.

"I'm going to spend this time getting his face out there, I'm going to give him a little bit of my experience breaking an artist in this industry," Stewart says of Bryan. "His stuff is all about being young and youthful. So we're trying to get in that whole 'heartthrob' lane where he can drive the girls crazy. Right now, we're just working the Internet."

In lieu of executive-ship, Stewart, who most recently produced the title track off Whitney Houston's comeback album I Look to You, says he plans to continue working with platinum-selling mega-acts while running his label.

"I'm not going in trying to build no record company, I'm going to continue to make hit records," he says. "You're not going to see me not working with big artists now that I'm running a company."

His planned business approach will be tough love.

"I'm not going to put out albums on people that don't deserve it," he says while walking into Def Jam's offices. "I'll put out singles, I'm going to have big singles. I'm going to put them shits out. But no albums until they prove they're ready for an album. My label is going to be indicative of the times today, and I'm not going to follow old school traditions. I'm going to get heavily involved in the singles market, and digital downloads. My goal is to bring bigger hits to Def Jam." -Linda Hobbs

Charlottesville Killer Receives Life Sentence Plus 419 Years

James Alex Fields Jr will spend the rest of his life behind bars for driving his car into a crowd of counter-protestors in Charlottesville, Va., which injured many and killed 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

According to reports, Judge Richard Moore sentenced the 22-year-old white supremacist to life in prison plus 419 years. Fields, who reportedly had a picture of Adolf Hitler framed by his bed, drove from Ohio to attend the 2017 Unite The Right Rally with fellow racists and neo-Nazi's to protest the removal of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee statue.

The event also drew Heyer and other counter-protestors who marched against white nationalism. The violence forced local authorities to declare an unlawful assembly and begin the process of demobilizing everyone. Later on the same day, Fields drove his car into a crowd killing Heyer and hurting others.

The event caused already bubbling racial tensions in America to spill over when during a press conference Donald Trump blamed "both sides" for the turmoil.

DMX Is Cleared In The Case Of A 'Stolen' Corvette

Rapper DMX will reportedly not face any charges after it was believed his was driving a “stolen” vehicle back in May.

The rapper reportedly left a Los Angeles restaurant in another person’s car, after the valet accidentally gave him and his entourage the wrong set of keys. The valet mix-up created a potential issue for X, as authorities believed that driving a stolen vehicle was grounds for a probation violation as it pertained to his tax evasion case. Police reportedly were able to retrieve the vehicle, and no one was arrested.

“DMX met with his probation officer and everything is fine,” the MC’s attorney, Murray Richman, told TMZ. “We're told the rapper's in the clear as far as a potential probation violation goes.”

As far as his professional life goes, DMX reportedly joined the cast of Chronicle Of A Serial Killer back in April. He also gave a rousing sermon at Kanye West’s Sunday Service performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the spring.

“Doors that were once closed are now open for me,” he said. “I am God’s favorite child…I have supernatural increases and promotion. Like the restoration of everything the devil has stolen from me. This is the day, time, and moment for me to experience the free grace of God.”

Bhad Bhabie Tells Jermaine Dupri To "Suck [Her] D**k" After Female Rapper Comments

Bhad Bhabie is commenting on the controversial comments uttered by Jermaine Dupri.

A cluster of female rappers from Cardi B, to Rapsody, to Doja Cat commented on the above sentiments, stating that there are many female rappers who don’t rap about their bodies. The latest voice to chime in is none other than the young Floridian.

In a now-deleted Instagram Story post, the 16-year-old wrote, “Jermaine Dupri can suck my d**k. Been like 10 years since bow wow. Sit down grandpa."

Last week, the producer and artist was asked by People about the latest wave of female rappers taking over the charts. He stated that while he appreciates them, he believes they’re “all rapping about the same thing.”

“I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper,” he said. “For me, it’s like strippers rapping. As far as rap goes, I’m not getting who is the best rapper.” In a video, Cardi stated the reason why she raps about her body, and then praised artists like Tierra Whack, Kamaiyah and CHIKA for bringing something different to the game.
