ANTM's J. Alexander Dishes on Andre Leon Talley, NYC Fashion Week and Bad Designers
Last week, VIBE caught up with America's Next Top Model's Ms. J Alexander during NYC fashion week and he dished about Andre Leon Talley joing ANTM, fashion designers kicking him out of their runway shows and how fame changed his life. Here are some highlights but listen to the full audio interview:
On ANTM: “In the beginning nobody wanted to give a shit about America’s Next Top Model,
they couldn’t care less and now everybody’s begging to be on the show."
On André Leon Talley joining ANTM: “Some people think it’s great, other people think, ‘Child why?’...
It's going to take the girl some time to figure out who he is.”
On Yigal Azrouel: “Honestly, I only go to see him because he’s so fucking good looking.”
On the worst organized fashion show last season: “I don’t want to give her any credit. Her brothers a DJ. And her sister too. Oops. And she was really very rude about it. And I was like, ‘excuse me stupid boo boo?’”
On getting invited to shows: “I go to the ones they invite me to… people wanna hate.”
On PR girls: “There are people who are young, who have no idea who’s who in the business, who have clipboards and pens…”
On a certain NYC fashion week show: “The guy comes out and says I’m sorry, they don’t want you in here anyway.”
On his career: “I think I’m the same person. My position has changed so the restaurants I eat in—you can afford a little better quality—but nine times out of ten I eat at home.”
