The Goods: Introducing Windows Phone 7 Series

Does the new Microsoft mobile operating system have an awkward name? Um, yes. But that doesn’t mean there should be any confusion: Judging by some early reports from the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona, Microsoft means business with this one. By completely overhauling their previous mobile operating system and starting fresh, it looks like they’ve created a very sleek, easy-to-use interface that blends the best of everything from social networking and gaming (XBox Live goes mobile!) to improved music (Zune is here, too!) and video. Fortunately, Windows Phone 7 Series won’t actually be available on mobile phones until the holiday season later this year, so you’ve got plenty of time to get familiar. But, for now, take a look at the video below to get answers to some of your questions about it. Only question left: Can it really compete in a world that’s completely in love with the iPhone OS? Stay tuned.—Chris Yuscavage
