MJ’s Doctor Has His Day In Court

Dr. Conrad Murray, the embattled physician accused of administering a fatal dose of a sedative that killed Michael Jackson, was in court today for a hearing in connection to an involuntary manslaughter charge against him. Murray, who walked into the courtroom wearing a black suit and was escorted by 10 officers, was heckled by a throng of Jackson fans on his way in.

According to TMZ, Murray’s defense will argue that the King of Pop gave himself the dangerous shot of Propofol that took his life last June. When asked about the legal tactic, Miranda Sevcik, a spokesperson for Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, said it’s “premature to discuss defense at this time.”

The defense team is expected to request a later date for a preliminary hearing to allow more time to go over evidence from the district attorney’s office. The defense will also take up California Attorney General Jerry Brown’s move to stop Murray from practicing in the state. In February, Murray was released on bail after pleading not guilty.—Keith Murphy
