50 Cent & Diddy’s Love/Hate Relationship (Pg. 3)
Friend or Foe? FRIEND!
The Situation: As executive producer of the Bad Boys II soundtrack in 2003, Diddy was in charge of trying to create a cohesive album that would serve as the first soundtrack ever released on Bad Boy Records. So he invited some of the biggest stars at the time, including Nelly, Jay-Z, Freeway and—you guessed it—50 Cent to appear on it. On “Realest Niggas,” the song that 50 appeared on, Diddy even unleashed a never-before-heard verse from the late Notorious B.I.G.
The Outcome: The BBII soundtrack had some hits! But none stood the test of time quite as well as “Realest Niggas.” Despite the fact that Biggie had been gone for about seven years at the time, 50 brought new life to the Red Spyda-produced track and 50 and Diddy’s first collaborative effort was a success.
