Miguel: R&B Rude Boy
WHAT WE SAY → Miguel Jontel Pimentel wasn't always an audacious lover. In 2006, the Los Angeles-bred introvert ditched the shy guy routine after falling for a nameless beauty at Orange County's Detroit Bar. Instead of kicking game, the Afro-Mexican crooner journeyed home to spin his dirty thoughts into the all-sex-no-talk ditty, "Quickie." While his newfound bad-boy flair wrecked his relationship with a longtime girlfriend, it also intrigued a newly single R&B sex symbol in need of resurgence. The two horndog anthems he co-wrote on Usher's Raymond V Raymond easily complement a one-night-stand, further evidence of the 23-year-old's penchant for falsetto-laced seduction. Pacing between love and lust, his forthcoming debut, All I Want Is You, offers nothing less than candor from the Scorpio charmer.
WHAT HE SAYS → "I'm a nice guy, but I like to get into trouble. There was something special about the night [at the club in Orange County]. Knowing that I wasn't gonna go talk to this girl, and then taking it home and saying everything I really wanted. Like fuck 'How you doing?' Skip all that. 'I'm taking you to the crib.' I didn't want to find the right angle. I was allowing myself to explore the notion of 'Nah, I don't want to talk to you. I want to tear you down.' That night was a turning point in embracing a more assertive Miguel." —Tracy Garraud
