Mac Miller

Pittsburgh’s packing rhymes now? Mac Miller has been on people’s radar since late last year. Super green (17 years old) and unsigned, he’s got a nice mellow flow that would please underground purists. Think cool boom bap (“Nikes on My Feet” cuts up Nas’ “The World is Yours”) mixed with a low key enunciated style, sort of like a more muted Asher Roth. Last week, Mac dropped his mixtape, K.I.D.S, a must download if you’re craving smooth chill-out rhythms and clever lines. [MySpace | Twitter ]

“Good Evening”

“Nikes on my Feet”

Aaron Fresh

If you’ve banned and put a virtual hex on Chris Brown, no need to worry about what heartthrob will be plastering your walls next. There’s a bunch of up-and-comers chasing the crown and Def Jam’s Aaron Fresh is one of them. The cute 17-year-old American and Trinidadian fusion is very Chris Brown meets Sean Kingston, but you’ll like it. When he switches into patois his voice sounds like he’s been dropping dancehall hits for ages. Hey young world, you can thank us later. [MySpace | Twitter]

“Spending All My Time”

“Dirty Girl feat. Cory Gunz”

Alexis Jordan

This chick’s name has been popping up constantly despite the 18-year-old redhead Roc Nation signee (and ex America’s Got Talent contestant) not having much music floating around. Her Stargate-produced first single “Happiness” is a joyous dance track that showcases her sturdy vocals and pop sensibilities. Not quite Leona Lewis but a potential young powerhouse. You might just get entranced. [MySpace | Twitter]
