V Exclusive: Mack Maine Says Lil Twist & Justin Bieber Mixtape On The Way, Wayne's Welcome Home Concert Cancelled
Looks like pre-legal sensations Lil Twist and Justin Bieber are plotting a teenage takeover.
According to Young Money President Mack Maine, the two friends and teenybopping artists have been clocking lots of time in the studio, and may have a collaborative mixtape on the horizon.
“[Twist] and Bieber, they’re like brothers,” Mack Maine tells VIBE. “They played a song for me last night—they’re redoing 'Billionaire', the Travie McCoy joint. They have a few songs, they might put out a little mixtape together but that’s his close friend. They like three songs in, so maybe they’ll put out a mixtape.”
It wouldn’t be Young Money’s first Rap and R&B duo tandem disc. In May, Wayne protégé Tyga linked with Chris Brown to record Fan Of A Fan, the DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar-hosted project that birthed the chart-topping single “Deuces.”
While a merger between one of Young Money’s youngest and Mr. Bieber fever is reason to celebrate, the crew is likely even more excited for their leader Lil Wayne’s release from jail in under four weeks. While talks of a post-jail concert have saturated Internet blogs and news sites, Maine says the initial welcome-home plans have changed.
“It’s not gonna be a concert, he’s gonna do a party,” Mack Maine revealed. “We wanted to do a concert, but we just decided to do a party. We might do a family party. We just gonna celebrate him coming home and just party party and work work. Just wild out and celebrate, fly to Miami, fly to where we live. Of course, he gotta make sure he sees his immediate family, his kids and stuff. Just basically have a good time.” —Niki McGloster, with additional reporting by Clover Hope
