Review: Jim Jones ‘Capo’

Top-40 aspirations haven’t completely shifted Jim Jones’ street corner raps. While ever-virile boasts about money, hash and hoes abound on Capo, swings for the big hit (the utopian “Perfect Day”) sound more contrived—but no less catchy—than past homers. Ultimately, vulnerable moments (check the Wiz Khalifa-esque “Heart Attack”) round the album out, while hometown collabos (“Take A Bow,” with Prodigy, Lloyd Banks and Sen City) fly highest. —John Kennedy
