The Big Recap: Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Kanye West And More Take Home Honors At 2011 BET Awards

And so it has come and gone. The most anticipated award ceremony among African Americans across the nation aired last night, and we now wake to the cyber sound of buzzing blogs and Twitter timelines. There were myriad of epic moments to be remembered at this year’s BET Awards bash held at LA’s Shrine Auditorium (how ‘bout that Patti Labelle tribute?), but the award show wouldn’t have been an award show without all of the winners.

Chris Brown took reign as major victor of the night with him taking home a grand total of four awards – one of which was for the honorable Video of the Year. Among others were Nicki Minaj and her [unsurprising] second win for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Drake’s win for Coca Cola Viewers’ Choice award (after an embarrassing flub by fan presenter Tiffany Green, though), Diddy-Dirty Money’s win for Best Group and Wiz Khalifa’s win for Best New Artist.

Will and Jada also had a heart-warming proud parent moment when Willow and Jaden Smith tied for the YoungStars Award, and Kanye West clearly went home happy (judging by the absence of interrupted acceptance speeches) with his award for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.

Oh, so you were flipping back and forth from True Blood and missed out on all the others? No worries. VIBE’s got you covered. You can peep the full list of winners from last night’s show below. — Stephanie Long
