Ludacris Goes Country With ‘Dirt Road Anthem’ At CMT Music Awards

While cross-genre mash-ups are nothing new, one can’t help but be at least a little surprised when the worlds of hip-hop and country. In 2004, Nelly surprised fans with his Tim McGraw collabo, “Over and Over.” During the same year, Jay-Z linked up with Linkin Park for Collision Course.

Now, Ludacris has joined forces with country singer Jason Aldean for “Dirt Road Anthem,” which was recently debuted during a live performance at the 2011 CMT Awards.Co-produced by Big K.R.I.T., the song even features a rap verse from Mr. Aldean, appropriately setting the stage for when Luda makes his grand entrance and the crowd erupts into a roar.

According to Rap-Up, Ludacris said of the collaboration via Twitter, “I love stretching the outer limits of where music can potentially go & collaborating w/artists that nobody expects me to.” —Stephanie Long
