Aspiring Rapper Shot Dead In East Harlem, Another Resident Injured
Yesterday afternoon (June 6), a gunman riding a bicycle shot and killed aspiring rapper Laquan Parks, 28, and wounded rapper Maurice Edwards, ,29, aka Bigga Threat just outside of the Jackie Robinson Houses in East Harlem.
Laquan Parks died immediately after being shot in the head, while he was sitting in a chair on E. 128 Street. Bigga Threat, most known for his performances on YouTube, survived after being hit in the right thigh and is likely to fully recover.
The reason behind the shooting is still unknown up to this point, but according to a police source gang violence has risen in the area.
Parks relatives only spoke highly of him, claiming that he was once a star basketball player at Benjamin Franklin High School. “He always gave me high hopes. He told me to follow my dream of being who I want to be,” said Parks’ cousin, Donell Moss.
