In the late 90s DMX hit the scene like a rabid pitbull and took hold of the rap game in a major way.  His gritty voice and dark, yet at times soul searching, lyrics hypnotized you and either made you want to slap someone or party all night long.  His debut album It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, is arguably a classic and his style has been imitated but never truly duplicated.  Currently still battling the same demons he famously rapped about on his albums, DMX’s presence is definitely missed in this world of fly by night rappers.
