3 Reasons Why You Should Watch "Reed Between The Lines"
BET is dedicating it's time and money into original programming that's less abrasive and more wholesome. Their latest additive to their Fall sitcom line-up is Reed Between The Lines, a Cosby Show-esque program (Theo included). Starring seasoned vets Tracee Ellis Ross, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Anna Maria Horsford, Melissa De Sousa and newcomers Zoe Soul, Nadji Jeter and Zoe Hendrix, the wholesome family show aired last night (October 11) to polarized reviews. Is the new BET spot too... chummy? To be honest, it's a PG-rated program that will bring back a level of respectability and class back to harshly criticized network. And with shows like Basketball Wives feeding the human need for drama, it's nice to see a bit of balance on the tube. Think we're joking?
Here's a few reasons why we think more of you should tune Basketball Wives out and Reed Between The Lines on...
1. Tracee Ellis Ross: This style maven already has a closet we're dying to raid. With a touch of sophistication and class, the wild-haired actress manages to make fashionistas melt in appropriately fitted pant suits, executes color-blocking flawlessly and chooses what seems like the perfect accessories for every 'fit. She's stylish to a tee, and that's definitely a reason to stay tuned!
2. That Cosby Show Feel: We get it! Reed Between The Lines is not The Cosby Show, but it does have the same familiar formula that keeps audiences coming back. Two professionals parents, several adorably cute kids and family-based problems that are solved through communication and a few good laughs? Nothing is beating that. And it simply feels good to be reminded of, well, the good ol' days. They even threw in a common, modern-day factor of blended families. Although it seems that we're still getting to understand the characters in depth, they are off to a good start!
3. The New Kids On The Block: We've been introduced to Zoe Soul, Nadji Jeter and Zoe Hendrix--the new kids of TV. First, let's clap for talented young black actors! Then, recognize how refreshing it is to see the sibling dynamic again. Flashbacks to Theo, Vanessa and Rudy are inevitable, but these three new kids are going to portray a fresh generation of style and happenings that we may be out of touch with. Oh, the younger years!
