Fashion Basics 101: No Hand-On-Hip Poses!
Rachel Roy has some advice, Vixens: "Stop putting your hand on your hip when you take pictures!"
She didn't direct that nugget of knowledge to us directly, but, instead, to the lovely cocoa beauties Sanaa Lathan and Gabrielle Union. Recently spotted at Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach Project event, the two actresses finally let their guard down... and their hands. Looking stunning as ever in their threads, the ladies clung to one another instead of reverting back to their "pageant-like" stance. Each lady did admit to InStyle that the simple act of taking your hand off your hip for a camera-ready pose is more difficult than walking in Alexander McQueen pumps.
Lathan says: “It was so hard. I went through withdrawal!” Union chimed in about Rachel's reasoning. “I think she just thinks it is cooler when you’re not looking like a pageant girl,” Union explained. “In this day and age of Toddlers and Tiaras, she’s like, ‘Enough!’”
Well there you have it. The fashion designer extraordinaire has spoken.
Now, the style guru may get mad at us, but take a look at all the hand-on-hip poses we may not be too mad about...
