Rick Ross, Common, Lupe Fiasco To Perform Grandmaster Flash Tribute at Grammy Concert

The upcoming Grammy Nominations Concert will feature a historic hip hop performance of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s “The Message.”  The show will bring together Common, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross and LL Cool J with Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio to perform the record, a joining of hip hop’s past and present.

“It’s like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I’m always getting over,” is the classic hook which in a nutshell chronicles inner-city street life in New York City during the 1980s which was heavily impacted by, unemployment, and high poverty.

The performance of “The Message,” will highlight its induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame, upon it’s 30th anniversary.

The Grammy’s itself will be taken over by hip-hop, as LL Cool J will be running things as host of the award show on February 12, 2012. It  has already announced that Ludacris and Rihanna will perform, and Nicki Minaj will be an award presenteer.

Those looking forward to witnessing the special performance can watch The Grammy Nominations Concert Live airing on November 30 on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/PT. – Natelege Whaley
