Cardi B, and the lucky guests at a Los Angeles Fashion Nova event Wednesday, (May 9), took a trip down the "Old Town Road." Bardi, 26, invited overnight sensation, Lil Nas X, to perform his Billboard Hot 100 single at her Fashion Nova Party With Cardi event.
The event is in celebration of Cardi's upcoming clothing line with the fast fashion company. Prior to Lil Nas X's performance, guests were privy to Bardi's "I Like It" and a surprise appearance from Blueface to perform the pair's remix of "Thotiana."
As Lil Nas X swaggered across the stage in his cowboy boots and hat, Cardi praised the young artist for accomplishing the feat of getting the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Its muthaf*cking hard to get a No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That sh*t is hard as f*ck," Cardi said. "So every single time I see somebody getting that spot I be like 'Damn I'm proud of you b*tch. I'm proud of you n*gga.' When I got my first No. 1, I cried like a muthaf*cka. So I wanna say that I'm so proud of this young guy who's about to come up and f*ck up the stage because his No. 1 is still No. 1 after they tried to deny his muthaf*cking entry."
Later Lil Nas X took to his Twitter to thank Cardi for bringing him out, "thank you cardi b!!" Make sure to watch Cardi and Lil Nas X perform the viral country-trap song.
The Four favorite Zhavia Ward and former One Direction member Zayn Malik have collaborated for a re-creation of the classic tune, “A Whole New World” for the live-action version of Aladdin.
In the video for the song, which will reportedly play during the end credits of the film, the singers are singing longingly to each other, while in separate locations in New York City. Their velvety voices match seamlessly, bringing an R&B twist to the Disney hit. Modern instrumentation starts and ends the track.
This wouldn’t be the first time the song has been covered. Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle performed the song for the original cartoon version of the film, and the song itself won an Academy Award for “Best Original Song.”
The live-action Aladdin drops at the end of May, and finds fan favorite Will Smith playing the iconic role of Genie. His version of the character, he notes, has an urban flair.
"I watched the movie a few times, I saw where Robin Williams infused the character with a timeless version of himself," he told Entertainment Weekly. "So I said to myself, 'What if I just infuse the character with a timeless version of myself?' And then that opened up for me… hip-hop, it opened up fashion."
We were recently blessed with the acoustic sounds and vocals of GDE/Island Prolific/Atlantic Records' newest songbird, Raiche. Not so long ago, the promotion package for her cool out single, "Money Pies," off her debut EP Drive, was delivered to our midtown Manhattan office in the form of an actual money pie. Yes, the edible treat was designed as real money, creamy dollar bills on a pie that the staff ate up and then wondered how the music sounded. To say the least, both were loved by all. That super smart promo gift has lead to her relaunching our VIBE V Sessions series where we focus on the vocals of the talented folks who grace our stage.
Trust that you'll hear more from the likes of the Pittsfield, MA native, in the future but for now, bask in her beautiful glow of breezy song with her single, "Money Pies" and a cover of her favorite Daniel Ceaser song, "Get You".
