Beyoncé-Inspired College Course Available at Rutgers
Vixens, it's official! Beyoncé Knowles needs to be crowned as queen or something. Well, maybe that's a bit extreme but Rutgers reports that the superstar is getting her own college course.
A doctoral student and lecturer in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies, Kevin Allred, will be teaching the course called "Politicizing Beyoncé." Its aim is to showcase and teach students how the superstar's music and career can help them understand race, gender, feminism and sexual politics in America.
Allred says that "she certainly pushes boundaries, and while other artists are simply releasing music, she’s creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona.”
He has a point, but is she really the vessel to be used for social change? One thing that's for sure is everyone will be signing up for this class.
