Chris Brown Named GQ's Worst Dressed Man
Even if it's the UK version of the glorified men's glossy, the publication is not too cool with Chris Brown's sartorial ways. The singer has been named the Worst Dressed Man of 2012 and outed alongside a slew of old photos.
"For someone who seems to have so much disposable income -- he boasts on one track about spending '15 grand on a phone' and charged over $500 for meet-and-greets on his last tour -- Brown seems utterly adverse to investing in tailoring, combining the worst excesses of XXL sizing with a penchant for deeply unflattering costumes."
Are they way off? Not really, but they're not spot on either. The "evidence" they present shows a much younger Brown in dated, over-sized getups. True, Brown hasn't made the smartest fashion decisions in his music career, even with a stylist at his disposable. It would bode over well for Brown shy away from the extremely zany 'fits he chooses and look to more tailored threads. (For the sake of an argument, at times, he has cleaned up nicely.) However, it's interesting how out-of-the-box women, i.e., Gaga and Nicki tend to get passes for fashion vomit while the men get bashed for making unconventional style choices (see Lil Wayne). The reason stemming from uncool, homophobic undertones in society? Quite possibly.
There's always a celebrity pushing the fashion boundaries, whether it's Elton John, Liberace or Andre 3000, but it's truly eye-opening how society accepts or shuns what they perceive to be poorly dressed men.
