In addition to chatting with pairs, we also got one on ones with some of the cast. VIBE’s Starrene Rhett (@GangStarrGirl) caught up with Terrence Howard where he got more in depth about what makes this movie cool. From special effects to sexy Black men, read on for some of his gems about the film:

On Making Hollywood History

“It’s an action movie, a full on high-flying testosterone driven film, and normally you’ll see four or five big White actors but here you see these big Black actors holding their own and it makes you proud to be Black.”

Visual Effects

“There’s only two movies that’s ever been made that has more special effects than Red TailsAvatar, with 200 more special affects and Star Wars. This is the third, largest collection of special effects in any movie and it’s with an all Black cast.”

Best Points About The Film

“You got the sexiest men in Hollywood in it. You got the best filmmaker in Hollywood who made it. And this is the most wonderful heroic tale that needed to be told. It’s one of the most beautiful untold stories, about the Tuskegee Airmen that pulled everything together and held the glue. Without the Tuskegee Airmen, we would not have won the war. So many families in Africa in England, in Italy and in France would be without grandfathers, they would still be under the domination of Germany. The Tuskegee Airmen cleared away the damage of D Day, they restored the beaches of Normandy—they don’t tell you that but these were the men that made it possible for Europe to be invaded and to be reclaimed by the allies.”
