Ice Cube Talks NWA Biopic, Says Script Is ’75 Percent There’

Movies & TV

Though rumors of a potential NWA biopic have been swirling for quite some time, the script is finally near completion.

Ice Cube revealed to MTV News that while they’re still in search of a director for the film, the script is almost finished.  “I’m happy with the script. The script is about 75 percent there. We’re waiting to hire a director and then bring it all home,” he said.

Though nothing is concrete, Cube says that the movie is progressing at a “high speed” and hopes they can actually get it done.  As for now, he says, “it’s still just a dream.”

The hip hop veteran also responded to rumors of the NWA members’ sons playing them in the film. “That’s a dream come true, but we’re going to find the best actor to do the job,” he said.  “That’s the thing about movies: You have got to find the best people to do the role,” he said. “It is going to be a role that I think is right for unknowns, people who you haven’t seen before. I think that’s the best way to pull this off.”  — Jazmine Gray
