M.I.A. and Anderson Cooper Engage in Brief Twitter Spat

Movies & TV

In the latest episode of celebrity Twitter wars, M.I.A and Anderson Cooper exchanged a few tweets on the social network Wednesday (March 15) when M.I.A accused Cooper of calling her a “terrorist” in a 2009 article on CNN.com.

The eclectic star tweeted “@AndersonCooper called me a terrorist for speaking out, and expressed support for the SLgov when this was happening.” She then added, “someone should make @AndersonCooper watch it / film it and show the world what happens when respected journos get it wrong,” referring to a documentary on Britain’s Channel 4, “Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields.”

Anderson caught wind of the tweet, and responded by saying,“What are you talking about? You are mistaken. I never called you a terrorist.” When she made reference to the article, where he called her a “Lady Tamil Tiger,” he threw in the ‘oh-shit!’ tweet: “I don’t even know who you are other than the lady who sang at superbowl…By the way, I defended your finger pointing at the superbowl, so check your facts. I’ve no idea what youre tweeting about.” Soon after, they resolved and came to common ground on the underreporting of the war in Sri Lanka.
