Robert DeNiro Apologizes for Racial Joke
Actor Robert DeNiro has vetoed the racial joke he made during an Obama fundraising dinner. While he introduced FLOTUS Michelle Obama, he poked fun at, well, the colorless women running for First Lady.
"Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney," he said Monday night. "Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?"
Reports say the audience erupted into laughter; however, the First Lady's Campaign Press Secretary, Olivia Alair, immediately stated the comment was an inappropriate gesture. Tuesday, DeNiro rushed to clear up any misunderstandings by stating, "My remarks, although spoken with satirical jest, were not meant to offend or embarrass anyone, especially the first lady."
Unfortunately, his apology falls on some deaf ears. The remarks have circulated and weigh heavily on the Obama platform. The POTUS' competitors now feel that this stunt "divides the country."
