Russell Brand Turns Himself in Over iPhone Incident; Now Released
Funnyman Russell Brand was arrested by New Orleans police Thursday afternoon following a report earlier this week that he grabbed the cell phone from one of the ever-eager paparazzi and launched it through a nearby window of a law firm, as being reported by ABC News.
Russell, who’s in New Orleans to film a comedy alongside Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, faces a charge of simple criminal damage in connection with the incident. The incident took place Monday after the photographer used his iPhone to take unwanted pictures of Brand.
Not only has Brand been released as of Thursday, but TMZ also reported that he has paid $240 to fix the window he broke. He also alluded to the incident in a tweet Wednesday, saying, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.” We wonder if this incident helps or hurts Chris Brown's own pending phone-grabbing incident.—Keenan Higgins
