Whitney Houston Tribute to Air on “Glee”

“American Idol” isn’t the only show paying primetime homage to Whitney Houston. According to The Huffington Post, Fox musical hit “Glee” is shooting a Whitney Houston episode that will include eight songs from the late singer’s catalogue.

“Glee’s” Lea Michele tweeted yesterday, March 8:

“Glee” music supervisor P.J. Bloom said he wasted no time passing the tribute idea to co-creator Ryan Murphy following the news of Houston’s death.

“As soon as the news hit, I texted Ryan and said, ‘We should do something,'” Bloom told The Hollywood Reporter last month. “If we don’t celebrate her in one complete episode, I’m sure we’ll continue to acknowledge her music in the show.”

Viewers may remember Amber Riley’s memorable performance of Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” that aired on the show in February. Noting Houston as a significant influence, Riley says she was “choked up” after hearing of the singer’s passing.

“Whitney’s music meant so very much to me,” she said at this year’s Grammys. “I’ve grown up listening to her voice ringing throughout our household. I’m so speechless. I can’t believe that she passed.”
